Thermal evaporation is one of the most reliable methods in vacuum coating technology for the precise application of thin layers onto a wide variety of substrates. In this process, the coating material is evaporated by targeted heat supply in a high vacuum.
Since it is a high vacuum process, the particles move almost collision-free and reach the substrate even at greater distances between the evaporation source and the substrate. The result is homogeneous, pure, and reproducible layers with excellent adhesion and optical quality.
The process enables precise layer thickness, high material purity, and stable process conditions. This allows for the production of both functional layers – for example, for electrical, reflective, or protective applications – as well as optical layers with decorative or light-technical purposes.
